Lagoon Project Plan Passes Unanimously! Please Thank Your Commissioners
Dear
Friend,
On August 9th, the Brevard County Commissioners voted 5-0 to put a property tax assessment on the ballot for a comprehensive plan to help save the Indian River Lagoon! Restoration projects include muck management, water treatment facility upgrades, septic tank removal, living oyster breakwater reefs, education, and monitoring programs. Once local funding is secured, the county can qualify for “matched funds” programs via state and federal governments, which will be necessary for the plan to work.
What You Can Do:
Please take a moment to thank your Brevard County Commissioners for their recent vote and show your support by pledging to vote for restoring the lagoon. The Indian River Lagoon is important habitat for manatees, but manatees are once again dying from an unusual mortality event in its waters.
