The good news is that bills are moving in both the state House and Senate, and that the Governor has issued an executive order in favor of banning fracking. Senate Bill 314 passed unanimously out of its committee stop yesterday with a favorable amendment removing an unnecessary study.

The bad news is that the House version of the proposed committee bill (PCB) disappointingly exempts matrix acidizing – the main type of fracking that occurs in Florida – from the ban. An amendment that would have fixed the bill to include the full definition failed to pass.

We’ll know more about the PCB’s next destination soon. In the meantime, it’s important to remember that our fight is just beginning. We need to make sure our state’s top leaders ensure this bill is fixed to include the full definition of fracking by amending it to include matrix acidizing. Please make these 2 calls right now:

   -Say your name, city, and that you want Governor DeSantis to ensure the state bans all forms of fracking, including matrix acidizing.
   
   
2. Call House Speaker Oliva at 850-717-5110 to let him know you want the House committee bill amended to also include matrix acidizing: 
   
   -Say your name, city, and that you want Oliva to amend the ban fracking committee bill to ban all forms of fracking, including matrix acidizing.
